Consumer Terms of Use

Terms for motorists using Trusted Garage Network, including booking requests, reviews and consumer rights.

Version 1.0 · effective 25/10/2026

Last updated: 25 October 2026

1. About these terms and our role

Please read these Terms carefully before you use the Platform. They explain what we do, what garages are responsible for, and your rights as a consumer.

1.1 These terms (the Terms) explain how you can use trustedgaragenetwork.com and our apps (the Platform). The Platform is run by RMCMS Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, trading as Trusted Garage Network (we, us).

1.2 By using the Platform you agree to these Terms. Please also read our Privacy Notice, Cookie Policy and Reviews Guidelines, which form part of these Terms.

1.3 What we do. Trusted Garage Network is free for motorists. You can search and compare garages, store details of your vehicles, get MOT, tax and service reminders, send booking requests to Verified Garages wherever they are listed, see offers from Verified Garages that may interest you, and read and leave verified reviews.

1.4 What we don't do. We are an introduction service. We do not repair, service or test vehicles. When you agree work with a garage, your contract is with that garage, not with us. The garage is responsible for the work, its price and its quality.

1.5 In plain English. We have tried to write these Terms clearly. Nothing in them takes away your legal rights as a consumer. A Business Day is any day except a Saturday, Sunday or bank holiday in England.

2. Definitions

3. Your Account

3.1 You can search garages without an Account. To save vehicles, get reminders, send Booking Requests or leave Reviews, you need to register.

3.2 You must be at least 18 and live in the UK to open an Account. You may have one personal Account only.

3.3 You must give accurate details and keep them up to date. Keep your password secret and tell us at support@trustedgaragenetwork.com straight away if you think someone else has used your Account.

3.4 You can close your Account at any time from your Account settings. We will delete or anonymise your data as our Privacy Notice explains. Reviews you have published may stay on the Platform, shown under your first name and initial, unless you ask us to remove them.

4. Finding a garage

4.1 What our checks cover. Before a Garage becomes a Verified Garage, we check things such as the owner's identity, the business's status and address, insolvency records, insurance, MOT authorisation where relevant, claimed qualifications, and its reputation with customers. We repeat checks over time. Verified Garages also agree to our Trusted Garage Standard on pricing, honesty, paperwork, warranties and complaints.

4.2 Verified means extra trust, not a guarantee. The Verified badge gives you extra confidence that a Garage is a genuine, checked business that has agreed to our standards. It is not a guarantee from us of any Garage's work, prices, availability or results, and we do not stand behind a Garage's work. We do not provide insurance or compensation for work a Garage carries out or fails to carry out. Checks are a snapshot in time and reduce, but cannot remove, risk. Please still get a written quote and agree any extra work before it is done.

4.3 Unclaimed (non-verified) listings. Some listings are Unclaimed Listings. They are clearly marked as not verified, show limited details, and the business has not been checked by us or joined our network. You cannot send a Booking Request to, or contact, an Unclaimed Listing through the Platform. Only Verified Garages can be contacted through the Platform, so your details are only shared with businesses that have passed our checks. Unclaimed Listings may also show promotions for our own services, such as RepairMyCar.io.

4.4 How results are ordered. We rank results using factors including distance from you, the services you searched for, Review rating and number of Reviews, how quickly the Garage responds, how complete its profile is, and its membership plan. Garages that pay for extra visibility are labelled Featured. You can usually re-sort results, for example by distance or rating.

4.5 Information on listings. Prices, opening hours and offers are supplied by Garages. We ask Garages to keep them accurate and show VAT-inclusive prices, but please confirm details with the Garage before you book.

5. My Vehicles and reminders

5.1 You can add vehicles to My Vehicles by registration number. We may look up publicly available vehicle data, such as make, model, MOT history and tax status, from the DVSA, DVLA or licensed data providers.

5.2 Only add vehicles you own, keep or are authorised to manage.

5.3 We can send MOT, road tax, service and other reminders by email, SMS or app notification. You choose which reminders you get and can switch them off at any time.

5.4 Reminders are a helpful extra, not a substitute for your own checks. Due dates come from official or third-party data and the details you give us, and messages can be delayed or blocked. You remain legally responsible for keeping your vehicle taxed, insured, roadworthy and with a valid MOT. We are not liable for fines, penalties or other losses caused by a missed, late or inaccurate reminder.

6. Booking Requests and your contract with the garage

6.1 Sending a request. Sending Booking Requests is free. You can send a Booking Request to any Verified Garage, wherever it is listed, to tell it what you need and when. We pass your name, contact details, vehicle details and message only to the Verified Garage you choose, so it can reply. Only send a request if you genuinely want that Garage to contact you.

6.2 A request is not a booking. Your booking is only confirmed when the Garage agrees the work, price and time with you directly. We cannot guarantee that a Garage will reply, accept or be available.

6.3 Your contract. Any contract for work is between you and the Garage, on the Garage's terms. We do not take payment for the work, are not a party to the contract and are not responsible for the Garage's performance. The decision to use a particular Garage is always yours.

6.4 Good practice before work starts.

  • Ask for a written quote or estimate, including VAT, parts and labour.
  • Ask the Garage to contact you before doing any extra work or exceeding the quote.
  • Ask about the warranty on parts and labour.
  • Keep your invoice and any messages.

6.5 Cancelling. If you no longer need the work, please tell the Garage as soon as possible. The Garage's own terms decide whether any charge applies.

6.6 Your data. Once a Garage receives your Booking Request, it is responsible for how it uses your details. Verified Garages agree to use them only to deal with your request and not for unrelated marketing without your consent.

7. Your consumer rights

7.1 Against the garage. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, a Garage must carry out its services with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time if none was agreed, and for a reasonable price if none was agreed. Parts it supplies must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If the work falls short, you can usually ask the Garage to put it right or, if that isn't possible, claim a price reduction.

7.2 Distance contracts. If you agree work with a Garage at a distance (for example by phone or online), you may have a 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If you ask for work to start within that period, you may have to pay for work already done.

7.3 Free advice. For independent advice on your rights, contact the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 0808 223 1133 (England and Wales), or Advice Direct Scotland or Consumerline in Northern Ireland.

7.4 Against us. We provide the Platform with reasonable care and skill. If we don't, you have rights against us too (see section 13).

8. Leaving reviews

8.1 Who can review. Only verified motorists can leave Reviews: you need an Account with a confirmed email address or phone number. You can review a Verified Garage if you used its services in the last 12 months. One Review per job. We may ask for proof, such as an invoice or job card, which we will not publish.

8.2 What a good Review looks like. Be honest, describe your own experience, and stick to facts and fair opinion. Mention what work was done, how you were treated, and whether the price matched the quote.

8.3 What we won't publish. We will not publish Reviews that:

  • were not written by a genuine customer, or were written by someone connected to the Garage or a competitor;
  • were paid for or given in exchange for any incentive, unless clearly disclosed and allowed by our Guidelines;
  • contain abusive, threatening, discriminatory or obscene language;
  • include personal data such as staff surnames, phone numbers or vehicle registrations;
  • make allegations of crime, or false statements of fact presented as true; or
  • are advertising, spam or about a different business.

8.4 Every Review is verified before it is published. No Review goes live until we have checked it. We confirm that it comes from a verified motorist and relates to a genuine job, and we moderate it fairly against these Guidelines, using automated tools and human moderators. We apply the same checks to positive and negative Reviews. Most Reviews are published within 2 Business Days. Ratings are calculated only from verified, published Reviews. If a Garage later challenges a Review, we may place it on hold for up to 14 days while we ask both sides for information, and we will tell you what is happening.

8.5 Negative Reviews. We publish negative Reviews that meet our Guidelines. We never remove a Review just because a Garage dislikes it, and Garages cannot pay us to remove or hide Reviews.

8.6 Updating. You can add an update to your Review if things change, for example if the Garage resolves your complaint.

8.7 Licence. You keep ownership of your Review but give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to publish, edit for length or compliance, and use it to promote the Platform. Your Review is shown with your first name and surname initial.

8.8 Responsibility. You are responsible for what you write. Fake or defamatory Reviews may expose you to legal action by the Garage.

8.9 Sharing your Review with the Garage. We share your Review, and the booking details needed to identify the job, with the Garage concerned so it can respond and improve. We never publish your surname, contact details or registration number.

8.10 Prize draws and Reviews. We may run prize draws for motorists who leave a Review. Entry never depends on whether your Review is positive or negative, every eligible Review is treated equally, and the draw has its own published terms. Garages are not allowed to offer you anything for a Review.

9. Acceptable use

When using the Platform you must not:

  • break any law, or use the Platform for fraud;
  • pretend to be someone else, or open fake or multiple Accounts;
  • send Booking Requests you don't intend to follow up, or spam Garages;
  • harass, threaten or abuse Garages, their staff or other users;
  • upload viruses or harmful code, or try to access areas you aren't allowed into;
  • scrape, copy or harvest data, or use bots, without our written permission; or
  • use the Platform to advertise other businesses or services.

Breaking these rules may lead us to remove content or suspend or close your Account (section 14). Our Acceptable Use Policy sets out the full rules.

Security. Attacking the Platform, for example with malware, denial-of-service attacks or attempts at unauthorised access, may be a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. We will report it to the police and cooperate with them, including by sharing your identity. Your right to use the Platform ends immediately.

Content you upload. Anything you upload, such as Reviews, photos or messages, must meet our Acceptable Use Policy. You are responsible for it. If someone claims your content infringes their rights or privacy, we may share your identity with them where the law allows.

Linking to us. You may link to our home page fairly and lawfully. You must not suggest we endorse you, frame our pages on another site, or link from a site that breaches our Acceptable Use Policy. We may withdraw this permission at any time.

10. Complaints

About a Verified Garage:

  1. Raise it with the Garage first, in writing, and give it a fair chance to put things right. Verified Garages must reply within 5 Business Days.
  2. If it isn't resolved within 14 days, tell us at complaints@trustedgaragenetwork.com with your Booking Request details, invoice and any messages.
  3. We will contact the Garage, ask for its side and encourage a fair outcome. We aim to update you within 10 Business Days.
  4. If the Garage has breached our Trusted Garage Standard, we may take action against it, up to removal from our network. We will tell you that we have acted, though not always the details.
  5. If it is still unresolved, you can use an independent route, such as the Motor Ombudsman where the Garage is accredited, your card provider (section 75 or chargeback), or the small claims court.

We cannot force a Garage to pay compensation or redo work, and we are not responsible for the outcome of a dispute between you and a Garage.

About an Unclaimed Listing business: we have no relationship with that business and cannot intervene, but please let us know if its listing is wrong.

About us: email complaints@trustedgaragenetwork.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 Business Days and aim to give a full answer within 15 Business Days.

11. Offers and third-party services

11.1 Garage offers. Verified Garages may publish offers, such as a discounted MOT or service. We may show you the offers most relevant to you, for example based on your location and the vehicles in My Vehicles. You can turn personalised offers off in your Account settings. Offers are made by the Garage, which must honour them on the stated terms while they are live. Check each offer's conditions and end date before you book.

11.2 Other services. The Platform may promote or link to services from us, other services run by RMCMS Ltd (such as RepairMyCar.io) or partners, such as insurance, finance, parts or breakdown cover. Those services have their own terms. Where we receive a commission or payment for a referral, we will say so.

11.3 External links. We are not responsible for third-party websites we link to.

11.4 Guides and advice. Our articles, cost guides, tips and MOT or service information are general information, not professional advice about your vehicle. Always ask a qualified mechanic before acting on them. We try to keep them accurate, but they may be out of date.

11.5 Competitions and promotions. Any competition or promotion we run will have its own terms, which apply alongside these Terms.

12. Privacy and communications

12.1 We handle your personal data as our Privacy Notice explains, in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. It covers what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, who we share it with (including the Verified Garages you contact) and your rights to access, correct, delete or object. RMCMS Ltd is the data controller.

12.2 We will send you service messages, such as Account notices, Booking Request confirmations and reminders you have switched on. We will only send marketing if you have agreed or the law otherwise allows, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

12.3 We use cookies as described in our Cookie Policy. Non-essential cookies are off until you accept them.

13. Our liability to you

13.1 What we are responsible for. If we fail to follow these Terms or to provide the Platform with reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of that failure.

13.2 What we never exclude. We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude, including your statutory rights.

13.3 What we are not responsible for.

  • Work carried out by a Garage, or any loss or damage to your vehicle or property while a Garage has it. That is the Garage's responsibility.
  • Information supplied by Garages, or Reviews written by other users.
  • Businesses shown on Unclaimed Listings.
  • Losses caused by events outside our reasonable control.
  • Business losses: the Platform is for personal use only.

13.4 Availability. We aim to keep the Platform available but cannot guarantee it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may suspend it for maintenance, security or legal reasons.

14. Suspension, changes and general terms

14.1 Suspending or closing your Account. We may suspend or close your Account, or remove your content, if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if we suspect fraud, or if the law requires it. Unless there is a safety, security or legal reason not to, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.

14.2 Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the law, our services or how we operate. We will give registered users at least 30 days' notice of significant changes by email. If you don't agree, you can close your Account.

14.3 Changes to the Platform. We may add, change or remove features. We will tell you in advance if a change significantly affects a feature you use.

14.4 General. If a court finds part of these Terms invalid, the rest still applies. Only you and we have rights under these Terms. If we delay enforcing a term, we can still enforce it later.

14.5 Law and courts. These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in your local courts.

14.6 Contact us. Trusted Garage Network is operated by RMCMS Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. Website: trustedgaragenetwork.com. Email: support@trustedgaragenetwork.com.
